KYOCERA Hardcoating Technologies employs a variety of laboratory techniques used for quality control, coating analysis and development.

Quality control includes visual inspection at magnification, measurement of coating thickness, and evaluation of coating adhesion.

More in-depth analysis starts with high magnification imaging of coatings and substrates. Compositional analysis is also routinely determined in both coatings and substrates. Coating adhesion is quantifiably measurable with on-site equipment.

In addition, we have access to a wide variety of other characterization techniques including nanoindentation hardness measurements, x-ray diffraction structure and stress measurement. In partnership, we have the ability to verify coating performance in a machining lab that measures cutting forces, productivity and tool life (total cost).
